There are different types of blogs, and each is different in the way content is delivered or written.

By type of media
A blog consists of videos is called one of the requests, one composed of links is called a linklog, a site containing a portfolio of sketches is called a sketchblog composed photos or one is called a photoblog. [14] The blogs with short messages and mixed media types are called Tumblelogs.

A Artlog is a sharing of art and publishing in the format of a blog, but differentiated by the predominance of art and focus on the work rather than text.

A rare type of blog hosted on the Gopher protocol is known as a Phlog

By machine
Blogs can also be defined by the type of device is used to compose it. A blog written by a mobile device, such as a mobile phone or PDA is called a moblog [15].

Genre
Some blogs focus on a particular subject, such as political blogs, blogs travel, fashion blogs, blogs project, the niche blogs, classical music blogs, legal blogs (often referred to as blawgs ) or dreamlogs. While it is not legitimate type of blog, the one used for the sole purpose of spamming is known as a Splog.

Legal status of editors
A blog can be private, as in most cases, or it may be for commercial purposes. Blogs, or used internally to enhance communication and culture in a company or outside for marketing, branding and PR purposes are called corporate blogs.

Blog search engines
Several search engines for blogs are used to search the contents blog (also known as the blogosphere), such as Bloglines, BlogScope, and Technorati. Technorati, which is among the most popular search engines for blogs, provides information on both research and labels used to rank blog postings. Community research works on beyond simple keyword search, by inventing new ways to navigate through massive amounts of data in the blogosphere, as evidenced by projects like BlogScope.

Blogging communities and directories
Several existing online communities that connect people to blogs and bloggers to other bloggers, including BlogCatalog MyBlogLog. A collection of local blogs is sometimes seen as a Bloghood.
